About Christine J. Gonong

Christine J. Gonong was elected Commissioner of the Los Angeles Superior Court on February 28, 2022.  She will assume her new role as Commissioner in April of 2022.

Gonong currently serves as Director of Law and Motion at Nguyen Lawyers, ALC, a boutique plaintiff-side firm in Long Beach that specializes in complex civil litigation involving catastrophic injuries.  Gonong is also a California Supreme Court appointee to the State Bar Board of Trustees and an adjunct faculty at the University of Southern California Gould School of Law.

Gonong is a former president of the Philippine American Bar Association (PABA) and secretary of the National Filipino American Lawyers Association (NFALA).  Gonong is a board member of the Asian Pacific American Women Lawyers Alliance (APAWLA) and a fellow of the American Bar Foundation.

Gonong clerked for Justice Mario R. Ramil of the Hawaii Supreme Court, Judge S. James Otero, Judge Dale S. Fischer, Judge Otis D. Wright II and Judge Jacqueline H. Nguyen of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California; and Circuit Judge Jacqueline H. Nguyen of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Gonong was a commercial litigation associate at an international law firm.

Gonong earned her JD from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 2002. She served as a notes and managing editor for the Hastings Law Journal and was the first recipient of the Filipino Bar Association of Northern California’s (FBANC) Raymond L. Ocampo, Jr. Scholarship.  Gonong received her BA in political science, magna cum laude, from UCLA, where she was awarded with College Honors and the Morgan Harris Scholarship Award.

Gonong is admitted to practice before all state and federal courts in the State of California and the U.S. Supreme Court.
