Rooted in Practice: Our Active Values (Volume 2)

We invite you to submit your reflections—first person essays, stories, poems, art, etc.—on any of the six active values of the Pinay Powerhouse 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization about practicing law, and life, as a Pinay. The six active values are:

1) Joyful Nourishment: We value the power of giving from abundance. How do you nourish yourself? How do you cultivate abundance in yourself? What gives you joy?

2) Fierce Devotion: We let our hearts guide our actions. What does your heart tell you? Tell us about a time when you were faced with a choice to either move with heartfelt love or (ir)rational fear. Who or what helped you stay devoted to your heart’s desires?

3) Relational Leadership: We recognize the impact of our leadership and the connections that we cultivate. Who are you in relationships with? What is your role in your relationships? Tell us a story about when you realized you are a leader! 

4) Transformative Impact: We inspire movements that can build bridges and transcend boundaries. What do you dream of bridging and/or transcending? Tell us about a time when you helped build a bridge, big or small, or broken through a boundary, big or small.  

5) Collective Justice: We recognize that all oppression is interconnected. How do you hold yourself accountable? Tell us about a time when you helped dismantle the systems of inequities and injustice.

6) Kapwa Consciousness:We embrace our shared identity and interconnectedness. Who is your kapwa? Tell us a story when you have cared for and honored your kapwa.
Or, you may also write about a time that you claimed your power as a Pinay Powerhouse!

If you are interested in submitting a piece, please fill out this form and and submit your piece of no more than 2,000 words by August 31, 2024, along with your headshot and bio. We anticipate publication by March 2025, and books to be available in person at the annual conference in mid-March, Pinay Powerhouse VIII: Advo8 & Ingat!

By filling out your form and submitting your piece, you authorize Pinay Powerhouse to publish your image, short bio and piece in its anthology tentatively titled Rooted in Practice: Our Active Values (Volume 2).
